This role is for Smart Road Technology, a sister division of CMES. A Heavy Highway Construction Signal Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing traffic signals and related systems on highways and other roadways.
The job duties may include :
Installation and Maintenance : The technician will install new traffic signals and maintain existing ones, including wiring, cabling, and other components. They must be able to troubleshoot and repair issues as they arise.Traffic Control : The technician will be responsible for setting up temporary traffic control devices and barricades, in compliance with state and federal regulations. They may also be responsible for directing traffic during construction or maintenance activities.Documentation : The technician must keep detailed records of all work performed, including maintenance, repairs, and installations. They must also document any accidents, incidents, or other issues that may arise.Safety : The technician must follow all safety guidelines and regulations when working on or near highways and roadways. This may include wearing personal protective equipment, following traffic control plans, and adhering to strict safety protocols.Communication : The technician must be able to communicate effectively with other construction workers, engineers, and project managers. They may also need to communicate with drivers and pedestrians in certain situations.Training : The technician may be responsible for training other construction workers on traffic control and safety procedures.Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities :
Ability to operate a bucket truck, a boom truck, concrete saw, lashing machine.Minimum 2-years experience with construction or maintenance of traffic signals with the ability to wire traffic signals and have knowledge of electrical and mechanical systemsFamiliarity with traffic control regulations and procedures. Knowledge of regulations, ordinances and policies pertaining to traffic control systems and Georgia Uniform Traffic CodeAbility to work outdoors in all weather conditionsAble to troubleshoot and perform repairs.Ability to operate general and specialized test equipment such as multimeter, loop analyzer, locator, controller tester, monitor tester, and other related equipment.Proficiently read plans and diagrams.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills and communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.Certifications, Licenses, Registrations, and Training :
Must possess and maintain valid Georgia drivers license. CDL A is a plus.Electrical License is a plus.Must have minimum IMSA Traffic Signal Level I CertificationMust Maintain a valid medical card if you have a CDL drivers licenseBucket Truck / Aerial Lift and fall protection.Trencher, Excavation, and Utility Damage PreventionPhysical Requirement :
