The Houston-Galveston Area Council is one of the largest regional planning commissions in the country with a diverse service area of 13 counties and more than 7 million people. We are the pulse of our region addressing issues that cross city limits and county lines every single day.

What Will I Be Doing?
You will be assisting with the coordination of multiple programs for Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) and Safety including, incident management, hurricane evacuation and preparedness, and safety programs for motorists, etc. Specific duties will include :
- Administration
- Under general supervision, assist with the development, expansion, and implementation of projects. Coordinate with State and local governments on incident management and hurricane evacuation and preparedness.
- Assist with the administration of Transportation Systems Maintenance and Operations and Transportation Incident Management Programs (Tow and Go).
- Assist with the preparation of memorandums, letters, documentation, progress reports, presentations, meeting materials, trainings, articles, monthly, and annual reports.
- Produce and work with colleagues to interpret data, charts, maps, and reports.
- Assist supervisor with all facets of project management, including developing scopes of work, budgets, and timelines; and consultant oversight, including reviewing deliverables, invoices, and progress reports.
- Public Engagement / Outreach
- Assist with community organizations, local agencies, schools, and other stakeholders for increasing awareness of regional safety and traffic management challenges and programs
- Coordinate and assist in developing educational and marketing materials to impact transportation safety and increase awareness of regional motorist assistance programs, incident responder safety, and hurricane evacuation and preparedness plans
- Participate in grass roots outreach by engaging with non-profits, community partners, universities, local event organizers, etc.
Key Qualifications
Knowledge of transportation planning principles and practices, including marketing and outreach; and public relations techniques.Ability to :Compile, develop and organize data into written reports and publications, presentations etc.Work under general supervision to complete projects and tasks.Experience with project and grant lifecycle, focused on reporting, invoicing, coordinating with sponsoring agencies, and other stakeholders.Experience with project coordination, communication, and presentation skills.Excellent verbal (in person, online, and over the phone) and written communication skills.Experience in researching, evaluating, and interpreting complex information and analyzing, preparing, and organizing technical / statistical reports and documentsDo You Have
Bachelor's degree in an applicable academic discipline or related field of study3 years of experience with local government, nonprofit programs, schools, or in job-related duties
