Unit Overview :
Join our 24-bed Neurosurgical Unit where you will provide exceptional care to a diverse patient population, including :
Post-operative care for craniotomies, AVMs, and tumor resections.Cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine surgeries.Care for stroke patients as part of our Comprehensive Stroke Program .High volume of cervical and spinal surgery patients, plus medical overflow cases.As part of the Aurora Neuroscience Innovation Institute (ANII) , our unit allows you to gain experience with the latest neurosurgical techniques and state-of-the-art care.

Assess patient needs, plan interventions, and evaluate care effectiveness, involving patients and families in the process.Recognize and respond to significant patient changes and coordinate care effectively.Implement safety strategies and develop patient and family education plans.Lead the discharge planning process through teamwork.Enhance patient, team, and unit outcomes and participate in shared governance initiatives.Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills.Foster a culture of safety by identifying and addressing potential risks.Uphold ethical decision-making and respect among peers.Engage in quality improvement initiatives for patient care enhancement.Commit to professional development and mentorship.Provide age-appropriate care and maintain standards specific to patient demographics.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Registered Nurse license from the state of practice.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).Education Required :
Completion of an accredited program in Nursing.Experience Required :
Typically requires at least 1 year of clinical nursing experience.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Ability to provide holistic patient care with a focus on clinical situations.Capacity to recognize changes that require immediate action.Proficient computer skills and use of electronic healthcare records.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Capacity to develop professional relationships and take initiative.Ability to make independent decisions and prioritize effectively.Coordination and teamwork skills essential for collaboration.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
