Assistant in Training
The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position's primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, "to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests." Additionally, AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising, and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities). Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional high-level duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.
Compensation & Benefits : Pay range : $19-$23 / hr. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. For sales positions, Buckle pays a base rate plus commission on sales. The range listed is the estimated base rate plus commission for Teammates in this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include sales generation and guest service, teammate recruiting, training and development, visual merchandise management, operations, and supervisory and leadership. Sales generation and guest service involve greeting guests, answering questions, recommending merchandise, demonstrating product knowledge, maintaining knowledge of sales and promotions, achieving personal sales goals, and providing legendary service. Teammate recruiting, training and development involve recognizing recruiting opportunities, coaching and creating relationships, developing skills, maintaining a positive attitude, demonstrating personal dress code, participating in daily setup, training, and reviewing, motivating teammates, demonstrating leadership actions, and executing actions from department calendars. Visual merchandise management involves owning and influencing product, executing and demonstrating new tools, partnering with store manager, confirming teammates are following visual standards, recognizing merchandising opportunities, giving store tours, ensuring sales floor is appropriately displayed, creating changes to improve store performance, and anticipating changes in product. Operations involve working a flexible schedule, understanding and utilizing planner, watching for security risks, following loss prevention guidelines, executing point of sale procedures, handling calls from corporate office, maintaining a positive attitude, understanding and executing policies, navigating and executing tools, giving guidance and feedback, completing scheduled shifts, maintaining a clean and organized store, providing feedback to store manager, communicating policy violations, understanding and applying the Buckle's code of ethics, completing new hire paperwork, planning, executing and training on opening / closing checklist, completing markdowns, pulls, inbound / outbound freight, recalls, return to vendors, establishing relationships with corporate office, monitoring inventory, and handling emergencies. Supervisory and leadership involve giving and receiving feedback, supporting leadership, promoting growth, maintaining professional relationships, executing daily interviews, overcoming objections, self-educating on company tools, understanding and administering Buckle Commitment to Success, traveling and covering other stores, handling schedule changes, and fulfilling mission statement.
Education and / or Experience : High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related retail experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the Teammate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and jump, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. The Teammate is occasionally required to sit. Physical ability to lift and maneuver 50lbs throughout the store and backroom. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment : While performing the duties of this job, the Teammate regularly works in a retail store setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
