Pharmacist - Rotating Shifts (Contract-to-Hire)

Location: Abilene, TX Worksite: Fully On-Site

Schedule:
  • Rotating shifts
  • 1 out of every 3 weekends: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Two 4-day weekends per month
  • Additional rotating weekday shifts
About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacist to support operations in a high-volume dispensing pharmacy. This role ensures safe, accurate medication preparation, regulatory compliance, and smooth workflow across the pharmacy team. The position is contract-to-hire with long-term growth potential.

What You'll Do
  • Manage daily pharmacy workflow, production quotas, and deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and DEA regulations
  • Supervise pharmacy production staff to maintain accurate order entry and secure operations
  • Verify accuracy of all new and refill prescriptions, packaging, and labeling
  • Oversee preparation and/or supervision of sterile IV drug products
  • Assist with ordering, receiving, documentation, and storage of controlled substances, including Schedule II inventory
  • Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and follow all safety and attendance policies
  • Complete additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Doctoral-level pharmacy education (PharmD or equivalent)
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing
  • Strong clinical interpretation skills (drug-drug, drug-disease, drug-food interactions, allergies)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and extended hours as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to dispense medications accurately and efficiently
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Pharmacy setting with standard equipment (computers, phones, carts, etc.)
  • May sit or stand for 7-10 hours per day
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, climbing, or balancing
  • May lift up to 25 lbs
