Senior Software Engineer

At Genesys were building one of the most advanced cloud-based Customer Experience (CX) platforms in the world. Genesys Cloud was designed from the ground up for the cloud and now handles millions of interactions and billions of API requests every day. Behind that scale is a foundation of hundreds of microservices deployed across global environments supported by a world-class CI / CD pipeline.

The Platform API Service Team builds and maintains a set of business-critical high-throughput microservices at the core of Genesys Cloud. Our systems are fundamental to the entire platform and focused on reliability scale and performance to ensure the platform runs seamlessly for both customers and the internal teams who build on it.

What This Role Is

You will design build and maintain the core APIs and services that power Genesys Cloud. This role is centered on scalability fault tolerance and distributed systems design. Youll work on services that must be always-on self-healing and performant at massive scale. Expect to spend your time deep in Java async programming and AWS native technologies such as DynamoDB Redis and S3 while also leveraging tools like Kafka and others when theyre the best fit for the problem.

You will also collaborate closely with other engineering teams across Genesys - reviewing designs offering architectural guidance and helping ensure that features built by partner teams integrate cleanly and cohesively into the platform.

What This Role Isnt

This role doesnt have a significant focus on front-end or UI development. You wont (primarily) be building web pages or dashboards; youll be engineering the platform infrastructure that makes every other service possible. The focus is on backend APIs resilient architectures and high availability systems with minor focus on presentation layers.

What Youll Bring

Youre a backend engineer who thrives on solving complex problems in distributed systems. You understand how to design for scale resilience and maintainability and you take pride in writing clean performant and testable code. You enjoy collaborating across teams helping others design and implement services that align with platform standards and customer needs. Youre comfortable balancing technical rigor with pragmatic delivery and you care deeply about creating a consistent reliable experience for both end users and internal engineering teams.

What Youll Do

• Design implement and maintain scalable fault-tolerant APIs and backend services
• Build systems that deliver high availability low latency and self-healing behavior
• Collaborate in architecture reviews incident response and continuous improvement efforts
• Work with technologies like Java (Netty async I / O) AWS DynamoDB Redis S3 and Kafka
• Conduct code and design reviews for collaborating teams to help maintain platform consistency quality and shared reliability standards
• Participate in code reviews testing and CI / CD processes to ensure robust maintainable feature delivery
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve system performance reliability and developer experience

Compensation :

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidates experience qualifications skills and location. This role might also be eligible for a commission or performance-based bonus opportunities.
