We are seeking an experienced Patent Coordinator to join a fast-paced legal team specializing in patent operations. This mid-level role will focus on preparing and managing patent-related documentation, supporting a team of attorneys, and ensuring compliance with U.S. and international patent procedures.
Key Responsibilities :
- Coordinate and prepare patent application filings and related documentation for attorney review.
- Manage formal paperwork including inventor declarations, assignments, and client communications.
- Draft and assist with Information Disclosure Statements (IDS), ensuring completeness and compliance.
- Track deadlines and manage docket updates for legal staff, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Conduct patent family and bibliographic research to support ongoing patent strategy.
- Review and monitor patent office correspondence and filing receipts.
- Collaborate with foreign associates on international patent filings and procedural requirements.
- Support onboarding of new matters and maintain internal database records.
- Generate reports, manage administrative systems, and contribute to internal process improvements.
- Assist with legal billing and time entry as needed.
Preferred Skills and Experience :
At least 3 years of experience supporting patent prosecution in a legal or corporate IP environment.Familiarity with U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) systems and procedures.Understanding of international filing processes, including PCT and national phase requirements.Proficiency with IP management systems (e.g., IPManager), document management platforms (e.g., iManage), and common tools like Microsoft Office.Working knowledge of MPEP guidelines and IP-related terminology.Experience communicating with inventors, clients, and international contacts.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Legal Studies, or a related field preferred.Intellectual Property paralegal certification a plus.Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
