Role Overview
General Genomics is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer / MLOps Pod Lead to lead a pod of 5–7 engineers and data scientists in the design, deployment, and operation of scalable, production-grade machine learning pipelines.
In this role, you will deliver mission-critical AI / ML solutions integrated with enterprise data lakes and warehouses, supporting federal bioscience and defense clients. You will be responsible for technical leadership, delivery excellence, compliance, and ethical AI implementation.
This is an onsite position in Fort Worth, TX.
Key Responsibilities
Architect and deploy scalable ML solutions processing 1TB+ datasets, integrated with enterprise Data Lakes and Data Warehouses
Lead, mentor, and develop a pod of 5–7 ML engineers and data scientists, driving best practices and model performance improvements
Design and maintain MLOps pipelines with 99.9% uptime, ensuring compliance with federal standards (e.g., NIST AI Risk Management Framework)
Implement and enforce AI ethics and bias mitigation protocols across all deployed models
Collaborate with stakeholders on data privacy, security, and governance for sensitive bioscience and defense datasets
Required Qualifications
U.S. Citizen with an active DoD, IC, or DHS clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain one
Bachelors degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field, or 8+ years of equivalent professional experience
5+ years of machine learning engineering experience with production deployments
Strong Python proficiency
Hands-on experience with TensorFlow and PyTorch in production environments
Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol)
Expertise in Data Lake and Data Warehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks)
Strong ETL development and data modeling experience for large-scale datasets
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience deploying ML solutions in federal environments (DoD, DHS, IC, etc.)
Proven experience leading cross-functional AI / ML teams of five or more
Familiarity with AI ethics frameworks, including NIST AI RMF
Relevant certifications such as :
AWS Certified Machine Learning – Specialty
TensorFlow Developer Certificate
