We are looking for an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant or Paralegal to join our team in Salinas, California. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in civil litigation, particularly in plaintiff-side cases, and possess a strong understanding of California legal procedures and filings. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to impactful cases involving mass torts, environmental issues, and civil litigation.
Responsibilities :
- Manage case files and documentation for litigation matters, ensuring accuracy and organization.
- Conduct legal research and assist in preparing pleadings, briefs, and discovery documents.
- Handle e-filing and ensure compliance with California rules, procedures, and court deadlines.
- Coordinate with attorneys and clients for case updates and progress reports.
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and drafting trial-related documents.
- Review and summarize medical records, depositions, and other key case materials.
- Manage calendars and deadlines, ensuring all filings and submissions are timely.
- Collaborate with the team to support mass tort cases, including wildfire claims and environmental litigation.
- Utilize case management and billing software to maintain accurate records and track billable hours.
- Train on internal processes to effectively contribute to case management and workflow.
- Minimum of 4-5 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in plaintiff-side civil litigation.
- Strong knowledge of California legal procedures, local court rules, and e-filing systems.
- Proficiency in case management software such as Aderant, CompuLaw, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience in managing discovery processes and preparing litigation documents.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple cases effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to liaise with attorneys, clients, and court personnel.
- Familiarity with mass torts, environmental cases, and other civil litigation areas.
