Inpatient Laboratory Director - Bayonne

Hudson Regional Health System (HRHS) seeks a results-driven and collaborative laboratory leader to oversee oversee inpatient diagnostic and clinical laboratory operations for Bayonne University Hospital and Secaucus University Hospital. The Director is accountable for ensuring regulatory compliance, service quality, and operational efficiency across all lab inpatient services across both campuses, supporting HRHS’s mission of delivering exceptional, patient-centered care.

The Director of Inpatient Lab Services manages all inpatient laboratory functions for Bayonne and Secaucus hospitals, including technical operations, process improvement, strategic growth, compliance, and financial performance. This position is based in Hudson Regional Health - Bayonne University Hospital while ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation across both campuses while also working in close collaboration with the HRH Outpatient Director of Lab Services and other lab supervsiors.

This position reports directly to the HRH-Bayonne University Hospital Chief Hospital Executive.

· Oversee daily operations of inpatient clinical laboratory services

· Ensure full compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, OSHA, FDA, and applicable state regulations.

· Supervise inpatient laboratory teams, including supervisors, technical personnel, and others as assigned.

· Maintain appropriate staffing, scheduling, and budgetary controls to ensure cost-effective performance.

· Collaborate with hospital executives, medical directors, outpatient, and clinical departments to support patient care initiatives.

· Lead continuous quality improvement and performance optimization efforts.

· Manage equipment procurement, service contracts, and laboratory supply chains necessary for successful inpatient lab functions.

· Partner with IT and system teams to standardize data, reporting, and laboratory information systems.

· Track and report KPIs, turnaround times, and quality metrics to system leadership.

· Participate in HRHS system-level meetings and cross-facility standardization initiatives.

· Serve as the administrative and operational leader for inpatient laboratory services at Bayonne and Secaucus.

· Collaborate directly system executives to align goals and share best practices.

· Work closely with other HRHS laboratory leaders to advance system standardization and integration.

· Promote employee engagement, professional development, and a culture of continuous improvement.

· Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

· Current licensure and national certification (ASCP, NCA, or AMT) required.

· Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in laboratory management, including multi-site leadership preferred.

· Inpatient Lab leadership experience required, ideally at the manager level and above.

· Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, budget management, and process improvement methodologies.

· Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
