Must-Have : Med / Surg Experience, ability to prioritize care, multitask, start IVs, basic wound care, maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes.

Description :

Hospital unit features a total of 20 beds with a patient ratio of 6 : 1.

Support staff includes tech support on day and night shifts, as well as a unit secretary available from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Equipment utilized includes IV pumps, telemetry units, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCA pumps, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and mobile communication technology.

Documentation is managed through Meditech.

Scheduling requires three 12-hour shifts per week, including two weekends (four shifts) within a four-week schedule.

Contract labor is the first to float, followed by rotation scheduling for multiple staff members.

Staff members are expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members.

Bedside shift reports are standard, emphasizing the importance of personal connections with patients and involving them in their care plans.

The unit is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, and a Certified Chest Pain Center.

Additional items to entice candidates include new equipment or technology and the experience level of staff on the unit.

Navy scrubs are required as the dress code for this position.
