Description

  • Assess patients within pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics utilizing standardized tools and clinical observations.
  • Create individualized treatment strategies aimed at achieving both immediate and long-term communication and swallowing goals.
  • Deliver targeted speech therapy sessions emphasizing language, fluency, articulation, and swallowing interventions.
  • Team up with occupational therapists, physical therapists, and medical teams to forge unified care plans for optimal results.
  • Educate patients and families thoroughly to ensure progress continues beyond the clinical setting.
  • Participate in the occasional delivery of inpatient speech therapy evaluations and services, ensuring seamless care throughout treatment.
  • Maintain meticulous and timely patient records complying with both regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Enhance your professional skills through ongoing education and peer discussions to remain at the forefront of the field.

Education

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • A Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) completion is required for those not yet ASHA-certified.
  • Certifications

  • Active state license as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferred : Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within the first month of employment.
  • Skills

  • Proficient in evidence-based methodologies applicable to all ages, with a solid grasp of developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, their families, and healthcare teams.
  • Ability to modify therapy techniques to suit various cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical thinking and clinical judgment.
  • Competence in navigating electronic medical record systems and documentation protocols.
