Overview
The Licensed Vocational Nurse delivers immunizations and vaccine education to the public in accordance with Public Health Standards from the Texas Department of State Health Services and other public health organizations. The incumbent will collect and maintain patient information and determine patients' needs as well as the needs of the clinic.
Responsibilities
- Interpret and review vaccination records and determine vaccine needs based on patient information
- Administer oral vaccines and injections to patients of all ages
- Utilize EMR / EHR databases to record vaccines and document vaccines given along with vaccination history
- Record and document vaccine inventory and maintain record of patients seen
- Serve as a primary or back-up coordinator for federal vaccine programs Texas Vaccines for Children and Adult Safety Net
- Record Inventory, monitor vaccine temps, ensure vaccine storage equipment is in acceptable condition and place vaccination orders for the clinic
- Monitor and address medical questions from patients and community members as they arise
- Use clinical response measures in the case of emergency within the clinic and the Public Health District
- Stay up to date on vaccine / immunization information supplied by State and Federal sources as well as manufacturer information on the vaccines
- Create processes to ensure storage, handling, and delivery is carried out appropriately among clinical staff
- Attend all DSHS calls / webinars
- Follow up on vaccine preventable disease reports, providing case management as guided by the Texas Department of State Health services and reporting information on the States quarterly report
- Enter disease surveillance information into computerized database

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree (AA / AS); or 2-year technical certificateTwo (2) years of experienceLicenses and Certifications

A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiringBoard of Nursing LVN Certification or Certified Medical AssistantRequired within six (6) months of hire
