Are you passionate about sparking curiosity and helping children learn through hands-on projects? RAFT is looking for an enthusiastic Camp Assistant Instructor to support Lead Teachers in delivering engaging, dynamic learning experiences. Youll guide campers through exciting team-building and journaling activities that complement our STEAM lessons, fostering imagination and collaboration. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and wants to grow their skills while advancing RAFTs mission of nurturing a lifelong love for learning.
What Youll Do
- Lead daily opening and closing activities that combine journaling and team-building exercises.
- Assist with classroom management for up to 20 campers, ensuring a fun and focused learning environment.
- Support Lead Teachers by guiding camper participation and ensuring smooth transitions between activities.
- Step in as a substitute for the Lead Teacher when needed, under the direction of the Camp Site Director.
- Keep activity areas organized by restocking consumables and transporting materials between classrooms and central storage to keep lessons running smoothly.
- Complete at least 9 hours of onboarding, professional development, and staff meetings before camp begins.
- Participate in after-camp discussions and take on other responsibilities as assigned.
- Supervise outdoor activities, ensuring camper safety and well-being.
- Monitor campers during transitions and breaks to maintain a secure environment.
What Were Looking For
Genuine interest and experience working with young children in education or childcare settings.Availability Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m.5 : 00 p.m., for at least one full week of camp.Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic learning environment.Proactive problem-solving skills and a reliable, enthusiastic attitude.Strong professional skills to complete required training and assignments with excellence.Must obtain TB Risk Assessment and fingerprint clearance (covered by RAFT).Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including an updated booster, before camp begins.Currently enrolled in a teacher credential program or holding a bachelors degree and applying for credential programs.One or more years of teaching or managing student programs experience.Why Join RAFT's STEAM Camp?
