Position Overview
The Site Environmental Specialist’s primary objective is to support the execution of Hexion’s environmental programs at the Springfield, Oregon facility and ensure compliance with applicable Lane County (LRAPA), Oregon and federal environmental regulations. This role supports a permitted manufacturing facility and is responsible for day-to-day compliance, implementation of established programs, and fostering a strong culture of continuing environmental performance.
Applicable environmental program areas include air, waste management, wastewater, stormwater, EPCRA (Tier 2 and TRI) and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) requirements. The position provides technical expertise and oversight to ensure ongoing compliance with permit conditions and regulatory obligations.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage site environmental programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations applicable to the facility.
- Provide day-to-day environmental compliance support, including monitoring, inspections, recordkeeping, reporting and corrective action follow-up.
- Ensure environmental permits and regulatory requirements are tracked and completed as site-specific compliance actions.
- Serve as a technical resource to site leadership and operations personnel, providing guidance on permit conditions, regulatory changes, and best practices.
- Maintain and support compliance with air, waste management, wastewater, stormwater, EPCRA, and SPCC programs.
- Support preparation, data collection, data analysis, and submittal of required environmental reports, including Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting.
- Develop, maintain, and improve spreadsheets and tracking tools to streamline environmental compliance activities for the Springfield facility.
- Participate in internal and external audits and assist with regulatory agency interactions and inspections as needed.
- Translate process and operational data into usable environmental compliance information.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen compliance systems and streamline environmental work processes.

Minimum Qualifications
2+ years’ experience as an environmental engineer or environmental professional in a manufacturing / industrial setting or supporting an industrial facilityDemonstrated working knowledge of LRAPA, ODEQ, and federal environmental regulations in all mediaStrong working knowledge of air compliance and permitting requirementsPractical working experience with wastewater permitting and complianceAbility to work in fast paced environment and self-directed at timesAbility to be a resourceful, self-starterProven ability to influence without direct authorityProficiency with spreadsheet tools and data management systemsStrong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.SAP experience is desiredAbility to travel 10%Education
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science / Management, Engineering or technically related field required
