Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Runner – Daytime (PRN)
Pay :
$35–$38 / hour while on the clock
$5 / hour while on-call
Schedule : PRN coverage
Shift hours will vary
Monday–Friday : 5 : 00 PM – 8 : 00 AM
Saturday / Sunday : 8 : 00 AM – 8 : 00 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, flexible, and dependable Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Runner to provide as-needed visit coverage for hospice patients across the Orange County service area. This role is ideal for an LVN who is comfortable traveling, adaptable to changing schedules, and committed to timely documentation and clear communication.
The LVN Runner delivers direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and collaborates closely with the interdisciplinary hospice team to ensure continuity and quality of care-without managing a dedicated caseload.
What You'll Do
Provide direct patient care in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act
Travel throughout the OC service area to provide PRN visit coverage
Implement established plans of care and prescribed treatments
Complete accurate and timely documentation
Assess patient needs and educate patients and caregivers
Support pain and symptom management and evaluate patient response
Communicate patient needs clearly and professionally with the interdisciplinary hospice team
Use medical equipment and supplies safely and efficiently
Participate in quality improvement activities and professional development
Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervising RN
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited LVN / LPN program
Current LVN / LPN license in the state
Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
(Hospice, home health, or med / surg experience preferred)
Flexible schedule and willing to travel throughout the OC service area
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong organization and time-management abilities with a focus on timely documentation
Understanding of hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
Current CPR certification
Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance
Hourly range for posted region
$35—$38 USD
