Description
Oversee the day-to-day logistics for Mountain Area transportation optimizing transportation and overcome challenges associated with movement of DFA member milk and bulk liquid dairy products to customers.
Job Duties & Responsibilities :
- Ensure adequate milk supply is available for customer needs and determine appropriate milk loads for each customer.
- Plan and prepare weekly master schedules that balance member and customer needs with planned load efficiency and profitability.
- Work closely with management team to secure additional milk when deficits exist and determine alternative uses for excess milk.
- Keep members, customers, contract haulers, field staff, and DFA management informed of critical changes.
- Reconcile pickups and receipts with customers, haulers, and members daily.
- Negotiate rates, determine travel lanes and miles for internal and external haulers
- Schedule pick-up and deliveries of bulk liquid dairy products and track rates and miles by hauler for billing purposes
- Investigate issues or problems and resolve expeditiously.
- Establish relationships with customer at plant level and become familiar with their operations to ensure optimal service.
- Keep management team apprised milk transport challenges, including rejected loads, and assist in their resolution.
- Promote active safety culture among company and contract haulers by adherence to safety procedures, laws, and company policy.
- Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with producers, customers, and regulatory personnel.
- Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive.
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
- Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion and sound judgment.
- Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity.
- Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO).
- Ensure availability to respond to emergencies or other unexpected operational requirements (. nights, weekends, or holidays).

Requirements
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and 5 years of logistics, dispatching, or related experienceOR
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field and 1 year of logistics, dispatching, or related experiencePrefer experience utilizing SAPCertification and / or LicenseMay be required to obtain and maintain other certifications and / or licenses in the futureKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
