Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented
Network Engineer to support and maintain the critical networking infrastructure that enables secure and efficient delivery of municipal services. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, reliability, and security of all network systems including firewalls, switches, wireless, and core infrastructure components.
- Looking for an experienced and skilled senior network engineer to document, design, deploy and run a complex and interconnected municipal network.
- Experience working in a project oriented environment with experience developing implementation strategies, defining steps and associated time estimates, providing leadership and training to team members, meetings timelines, producing runbooks and system documentation.
- Experience working within the constraints of a change management structure
- Act as subject matter expert for network design and functions, along with ownership mentality of Layer 2/7 infrastructure. Provide guidance and escalated problem resolution to members of the infrastructure team as needed.
- Proven 10+ years of experience in a corporate network , with implementation of network protocols and concepts including DHCP, STP, VTP, HSRP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, vPC
- Hands-on experience with basic to advanced configuration, maintenance, and design with layers 2-7 network devices, including but not limited to Cisco Nexus, Cisco Firepower, Cisco Catalyst, Meraki switches and WAPs & firewalls, Fortigate Firewalls, SonicWall firewalls, reverse proxies, proxies
- Experience with implementing advanced network configurations such as MPLS, VPN, Point to Point VPN, SD-WAN, load balancing proxy systems, and other aligned data center technologies.
- Manage and optimize the existing Cisco environment with focus on modernization and implementation of best practices.
- Manage network infrastructure upgrade and modernization projects to address scalability, reliability and security concerns.
- Experience with deploying network security technologies and network authentication technology like ACLs, AAA, TACACT+, RADIUS, S2S VPN, SSLVPN, 802.1X and IDS/IPS.
- Experience and skill level equivalent to having Cisco CCNP Enterprise, Data Center, and Security certificates along with wired and wireless network design.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Computer Networking, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network engineering or infrastructure roles.
- Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent preferred.
- Strong diagnostic and analytical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication for technical documentation and cross-department collaboration.
Compensation depends on experience but is typically 114k-140k
