About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Hours per Shift : 12 hours

Experience : Minimum 2 years of experience, will accept 1 year of experience in a larger trauma setting

License : WA or Compact License Required

Certifications : ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS

Must-Have :

• Strong clinical judgment skills
• Ability to manage patients in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with a variety of emergencies including cardiac, stroke, and respiratory issues

Description :

The Emergency Room is equipped with 56 beds, with the capability to utilize hall beds to increase capacity to 60-70.

A fast track area with 6 beds is available for low-acuity patients.

There is a separate triage area with 5 beds, and travelers may take a triage test for potential assignment.

18 beds are designated for holding inpatients awaiting bed placement, and ER nurses manage their own ER holds.

We have separate psych rooms with a locked hall containing 6 private treatment rooms.

In-house security is available for safety.

The department handles approximately 170-200 patients per day, with staff to patient ratios typically at 1 : 3 for high acuity and 1 : 4 for low acuity.

Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, respiratory issues, and abdominal pain.

The emergency department is staffed with both physicians and mid-level providers, as well as charge nurses and house supervisors.

Nursing aides, paramedics, and ED techs assist with patient care, and nurse or ED tech primarily draw lab samples.

The radiology department is adjacent to the emergency department for efficient patient transport.

There is a weekend requirement every other week, and holiday shifts may be required during peak months.

The dress code is professional colors, and there is no call or standby requirement.
