Mortgage Consumer Loan Underwriting Associate
This position is designated for entry level candidates/recent college graduates who are passionate about developing a career in consumer loan underwriting (mortgage, home equity loans/lines). This role offers exposure to the home loan lending industry and real estate with opportunities for growth. Training will be provided.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Make credit decisions on conventional mortgage and home equity loan applications.
- Review income, asset, credit and appraisal documents.
- Provide support to the senior underwriting staff by reviewing loan conditions regarding credit, income, and collateral risk.
- Work within specified time frames to assist in closing loans in a timely manner.
- Maintains the confidentiality of the information reviewed.
- Maintains and improves personal knowledge and skills.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and guidelines.
- Analyzing risk and requesting additional documentation as necessary.
- Staying up to date agency guidelines, products and recent regulatory changes.
Additional duties and responsibilities include:
- Perform other duties as requested by manager.
- Provide exceptional servicing support to customers and loan officers.
- Adherence to all First United Policies and Procedures.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Employee specifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting, economics or related field.
- 0-5 years relevant work experience or internship experience in finance, mortgage, accounting, banking or related field.
- Self-motivated and proactive.
- Detail-oriented and highly organized.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to lead by example and participate as an effective member; conducts self as a professional.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment to resolve problems.
