A full-time Special Education Teacher is needed to support a 5th-grade student with unique academic and behavioral needs in Evans, GA. This travel position requires an educator holding valid Georgia Teaching Certification (GaPSC) and Elementary Special Education Certification. The role demands strong expertise in managing physical aggression while delivering focused academic instruction in a one-on-one setting.
Location: Evans, GA (On-site at an elementary school)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized reading instruction and behavioral support to a high-functioning, verbal 5th-grade female student exhibiting significant physical aggression
- Collaborate closely with a dedicated paraprofessional assigned to the student
- Utilize strategies gained from behavioral training and restraint support provided by the district as needed
- Implement structured routines and academic interventions tailored to the students needs
- Maintain clear communication with educational leaders and support staff regarding progress and challenges
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Georgia Teaching Certification (GaPSC) and Elementary Special Education Certification required; candidates must submit documentation upon application
- Proven experience working with students who display physically aggressive behaviors
- Strong background in special education, preferably with elementary-aged students
- Ability to create and sustain a supportive, structured learning environment
