Specific Duties
- Provide support for stagecraft labs, including assisting other students with their work.
- Promote a safe work environment and keep the scene shop clean and orderly.
- Assist faculty with course-related tasks, such as copying and filing.
- Assist with all areas of theatrical production like costumes, painting, building, and warehouse maintenance.
- Help facilitate stagecraft labs and work calls for the scheduled build of theatrical sets and production elements.
- Work along side inexperienced students and help them apply techniques of stagecraft safely within the scheduled time.
- Read plans and follow directives from the Assistant Technical Director and the Technical Director related to building scenic elements and facility/warehouse maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a current University of La Verne student
- Demonstrate a familiarity with some of the tools and techniques related to the theatre such as sewing, painting, drawing, graphic design, carpentry, electrics, computer software, video, or computer programming by providing a letter of recommendation that speaks to the candidates character and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working backstage on more than one high school or college theatre production.
- Experience completing projects related to building or construction or craft at home or at another institution, or demonstrate through a portfolio or a letter of recommendation, a familiarity with tools and techniques related to the theatre such as sewing, painting, drawing, graphic design, carpentry, electrics, electronics, computer software, video, or computer programming.
- Patience, a sense of humor, and a sincere desire to help others achieve the highest levels of success in technical theatre in order to foster life long learning, diversity, and community building.
