Diesel Engine Spec - PS Ft. Lauderdale Field Station 4448BR Job Description This position will be responsible for servicing all diesel engines, large pumps and ancillary machinery and equipment including reconditioning and rebuilding engine and equipment parts at pumping stations within Ft. Lauderdale Field Station's area of responsibility as part of the South Trades Support Team. In addition, this position also supports the entire southern region of pump stations within the Homestead and Miami areas. Assists with the installation of machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and drawings / sketches. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, sketches, and blueprints for the installation of machinery and equipment. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose. Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system. Knowledge of basic mathematics, basic electrical theory, hydraulics, pneumatics, pipe fitting, valve and piping installations, mechanical power transmission, welding, and brazing. Other Duties as Assigned. The Ft. Lauderdale Field Station works a four-day, ten-hour work week, Monday – Thursday, 6 : 00 am – 4 : 30 pm. Our offices are closed on Friday. Employment Guidelines High School Diploma or GED and 4+ years of experience overhauling, diagnosing, and repairing diesel engines, including servicing ancillary mechanical equipment. The hiring range for this position is $51,854.40 to $63,086.40 (based on education and years of relevant work experience. Factory training a plus. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. License Valid State of Florida Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) without restriction to operate a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission and air brakes. If selected candidate does not currently possess a CDL, the District will provide two months from date of hire to obtain CDL Learner’s Permit and six months to obtain CDL License. District is willing to pay cost of CDL training program. Must possess the ability to obtain certifications in Rigging, Forklift, CPR, and First Aid. This position is subject to random drug / alcohol testing. Physical Requirements / Working Environment Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times be required to provide support before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role. Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests, and operates equipment to complete assignments. Work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Position works inside and outside, traveling to pumping stations inspecting and repairing machinery and equipment. Overtime will be required based on weather and / or environmental conditions.
