Role Description

The Outside Sales Representative position will be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with potential customers. The Outside Sales Representative will be responsible for achieving sales targets, generating leads, tracking customer data, creating / establishing new business and servicing those customers with the necessary resources provided from JB Harris support.

Duties / Responsibilities

Develops and maintains relationships with potential and existing clients in need of transportation (particularly heavy equipment).

Identifies and locates new clients through a variety of methods including networking and cold calls.

Develops and implements strategies for sales in an assigned region or industry.

Applies knowledge of the field and product features to match products to the needs of clients.

Answers inquiries from clients concerning products, their uses, and the industry at large.

Provides information, quotes, credit terms, and other bid specifications to clients.

Negotiates prices, terms of sales, and / or service agreements; prepares contracts and submits orders.

Collaborates with purchasing departments, managers, and other staff to confirm that orders are processed with accuracy and efficiency and that products are distributed properly.

Periodically prepares and reports results, status of accounts, and leads to manager.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Proven sales record and / or business.

Candidate should have a book of business that includes FTL, LTL, Expedited, Project Cargo, Warehousing, and Port Services.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to create relationships with potential customers, negotiate bids and earn as much freight as they can while servicing them at a high level.

Drive and hustle are a must - we want representatives that are hungry and are willing to work hard.

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software

Must have previous sales experience - 5 years.

Must have previous logistics experience - 2 yrs.

Willingness to travel 50%
