RN Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Location: Green Bay, WI 54311
Position: NICU RN - Crisis Rate | Contract
Hours: 36 hrs/week
Shift: 12-hr Night (7pm-7am or 3pm-3am)

Work Setting: NICU, with potential floating to Peds/Med-Surg as needed
Position Summary The NICU RN provides specialized care to critically ill neonates, including micropreemies and ventilated infants. This role focuses on high-acuity newborn care in a Level III NICU and includes support for Peds/Med-Surg patients when needed.
Core Responsibilities - Deliver comprehensive neonatal care for Level III NICU patients including micropreemies, infants with respiratory distress, infections, NAS, and intubated/ventilated neonates.
- Assist with deliveries and stabilize newborns immediately post-birth.
- Administer and monitor oxygen therapy, CPAP, nitrous oxide therapy, chest tubes, and ventilator support.
- Conduct transport of NICU patients as required.
- Collaborate with neonatologists, NPs, charge nurses, and CNAs to ensure continuous patient care.
- Perform bedside and centralized telemetry monitoring; support lab draws via phlebotomy.
- Use EPIC, Alaris, and Pyxis systems for charting, medication administration, and IV pump management.
- Float to Peds/Med-Surg units as needed to care for NICU babies.
Patient Types - Micropreemies (no major surgeries)
- Infants with respiratory distress, NAS, infections
- Intubated and ventilated neonates
Patient Ratios - 1:1-3 depending on acuity and shift
Required Certifications - RN License (WI or Compact)
- BLS, NRP
- STABLE preferred
Skills & Experience - 1-2 years NICU experience (Level III preferred)
- Experience with O2 therapy, CPAP, intubation, ventilator management, chest tube care
- Delivery experience and neonatal stabilization skills
- Neonatal transport experience preferred
Unit Support & Technology - CNA ratio: 1:18
- Bedside and nurses station telemetry
- 24/7 in-house neonatologist and NP coverage
- Charting: EPIC
- Medication/IV: Alaris, Pyxis
Orientation & Floating - General hospital orientation
- 1 shift unit-specific orientation
- Floating to Peds as needed
Scheduling & Holidays - Every other weekend rotation
- No call responsibilities
- Time-off approval up to 7 days
