Administrative Assistant For Student Transportation
Provides administrative and secretarial assistance to an Area Manager of student transportation and oversees the effective operations of the office; performs a variety of moderately complex work within established procedures and standard practices; possesses knowledge of student transportation policies and procedures; works under general supervision and requires coordination with others within and outside the school and may require handling of sensitive information or dealing tactfully with the public; requires considerable judgment and knowledge of confidentiality. Requires frequent interaction with the Administrative Assistant to the Director of Transportation.
Essential Job Functions :
Budgetary Responsibility : N / A
Report Preparation : Prepares reports reflecting time and attendance for school bus drivers and office staff each pay period; researches and prepares reports as needed.
Equipment Operation : Office equipment such as computer, printer, adding machine, copier, facsimile machine, multi-line telephone and radio communication, VEO (GPS) and VersaTrans (routing System).
Contacts : Frequent contact with the Human Resources Department regarding school bus driver benefits; Finance Department regarding school bus driver payroll, billing; Risk Management Department regarding incident or accident resolution; Director's Administrative Assistant.
Work Direction / Supervision : N / A
Decision Making : Performs majority of tasks independently within established procedures and standard practices. Seeks supervisory advice and guidance as necessary.

Physical Demands : Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use a telephone, to enter data into a computer terminal; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal indoor levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
Work Environment : The employee regularly works in an office environment. The noise level is moderate to noisy. Must be able to handle fast pace and multitask.
