Travel : ~5% (approximately 3 weeks per year)
Compensation : $100k-120k, based on experience
About the Role
We are a well-established automation and machine-build organization seeking an Automation Engineer to join our onsite engineering team in Sugar Grove. This role offers the opportunity to work on custom automated equipment from concept through commissioning, in a collaborative, hands-on environment where engineering quality and teamwork matter.
You’ll work closely with customers, internal engineering, and manufacturing teams to deliver practical, reliable automation solutions—without excessive travel or remote work expectations.
What You’ll Do
Interpret client requirements and translate them into effective, cost-conscious engineering solutions
Identify and resolve design parameters and technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle
Participate in internal and customer design reviews
Ensure all designs and systems meet safety objectives and applicable legal requirements
Support installation and commissioning of machines at customer sites (limited travel)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and controls engineering
Skills & Qualifications
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management abilities
Solid mechanical aptitude with an understanding of automated systems
Working knowledge of electronic equipment, computer hardware, and software
Background in industrial automation or machine design
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
3–5 years of relevant engineering experience
Proficiency with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, and SolidWorks
Strong foundational knowledge of industrial automation controls, including :
Vision systems
Power distribution
Sensors and inspection systems
Industrial communication networks
Valid Driver’s License
U.S. citizenship required
