Vice Chair for Research - Neurology

The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine's Department of Neurology is recruiting a visionary Vice Chair for Research (VCR) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor (tenure-eligible or non-tenure track). Building on a period of rapid faculty expansion, doubled extramural funding, and a new academic medical tower, the VCR will serve as the department's senior scientific leader, crafting and executing a multi-year research roadmap that advances basic, translational, and clinical discovery in stroke, epilepsy, cognitive neurology, neuroimmunology, and bioinformatics.

Reporting directly to the Chair, the VCR will maintain an active, externally funded program while mentoring faculty and trainees toward sustained NIH, DoD, industry, and philanthropic support. The role includes oversight of laboratories, clinical trial units, and stewardship of regulatory compliance, and cultivation of interdisciplinary partnerships across the OU Health Sciences Center.

Candidates must hold an MD, PhD, or MD / PhD in Neurology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline and present a national reputation demonstrated by sustained peer-reviewed funding and high-impact publications. Proven success in leading interdisciplinary teams, mentoring early-career investigators, and-if clinically active-eligibility for Oklahoma medical licensure and ABPN certification are required.
