Job Title : Controls Engineer
Job Description
As a Controls Engineer, you will play a vital role in the development and evolution of our standard product lines, focusing on packaged equipment such as pump stations, water treatment systems, control panels, and power distribution equipment. Your work will emphasize creating robust, high-performance solutions that are scalable and repeatable. You will collaborate with product management, sales, customers, engineering, and manufacturing to define requirements, develop control architectures, and bring new product features from concept to production release. This role requires a strong technical in controls, excellent problem-solving skills, and effective communication across disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Translate product requirements and market needs into control system specifications for standard product families.
- Participate in product definition and roadmap discussions to identify new control features and standard configurations.
- Define and maintain control system architectures for each product line, including I / O allocation and communication networks.
- Develop, program, and maintain PLC, HMI, and other control solutions for standard products.
- Create reusable code libraries, templates, and standard function blocks to support product families.
- Ensure software implementations meet functional, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability requirements.
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design control systems that integrate seamlessly with packaged equipment.
- Assist with selecting standardized hardware components that support product strategy and cost targets.
- Create and maintain detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings using CAD software.
- Perform designs in accordance with job specifications and governing standards such as UL508A and NEC.
- Integrate control systems with motors, pumps, valves, and other subsystems, ensuring reliable operation.
- Develop and execute test plans, including bench testing and support for factory and site acceptance tests.
- Support pilot builds and initial production runs by troubleshooting control-related issues.
- Collaborate with manufacturing to develop and improve test procedures and standard work instructions.
- Investigate field issues related to controls, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of control system designs, code versions, and configuration standards.
- Ensure control systems comply with applicable electrical standards, safety codes, and design guidelines.
- Provide training and technical support to internal teams on the operation and maintenance of control systems.
- Stay current with advancements in PLCs, HMIs, drives, and associated tools relevant to product development.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Computer Engineering, or a related field.Proven experience (3+ years) in controls engineering in an OEM, product development, or packaged systems environment.Strong understanding of electrical principles, control theory, and power distribution.Proficiency in CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN for control panel and wiring design.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with software platforms such as RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View, EcoStruxure, and others.Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to control panel design and electrical systems.Embedded systems knowledge including programming languages such as C#, C++, Python, and JavaScript.Experience with industrial networking / IoT technologies like MQTT and Ethernet / IP.Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.Work Environment
The work environment consists of an office setting with collaborative manufacturing design work. The typical work schedule is Monday to Friday, with start times between 6am and 7am. There is no travel required. This role requires adaptability to evolving technologies in a fast-paced product development environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of Dallas, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00 / yr.
