GROW WITH US AND STAY EXTRAORDINARY:
Launch your career to new heights with Innoflight—one of San Diego’s fastest-growing Aerospace and Defense innovators. Here, visionary minds engineer the future of space technology through pioneering, compact, and cyber-secure solutions. From software-defined radios to cutting-edge cryptographic systems and avionics, everything we build powers the next era of New Space. Join our small, agile, and mission-driven team where your work has real impact and your growth has no limits. We’re not just reaching for the stars—we’re engineering them. Let’s innovate the infinite, together.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:
The Director, Information Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of the company’s IT infrastructure, cybersecurity posture, and enterprise systems. This role ensures 24/7 availability, security, and performance of business and engineering environments, including virtualized, Linux- and Windows-based platforms operating in secured and classified settings.

This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements, including CMMC and NIST SP 800-171, ensuring the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), intellectual property, and other sensitive data.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead Enterprise IT Strategy and Architecture: Define and execute the vision, architecture, and long-range technology roadmap for infrastructure, enterprise systems, telecommunications, databases, virtualized environments, and engineering development platforms
  • Ensure High-Availability IT Operations: Oversee a 24/7 IT environment by establishing team priorities, managing workflow, and leading incident response efforts to ensure reliable hardware, software, and network performance
  • Drive Cybersecurity and Compliance: Establish and maintain cybersecurity programs aligned with CMMC and NIST SP 800-171 requirements to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), proprietary data, and systems operating within secured or classified environments
  • Manage Information System Security (ISSM) Functions: Direct the security posture of enterprise and classified networks, including audit readiness, SSP maintenance, POA&M tracking, monitoring, and adherence to government security standards
  • Oversee IT Risk, Disaster Recovery, and Continuity Planning: Develop and implement enterprise IT risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery strategies
  • Develop Policies and Governance: Create, maintain, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and standards that support secure, compliant, and efficient operations
  • Lead IT Budget and Resource Planning: Develop and manage the IT department’s annual budget and staffing plans to ensure cost-effective investments in hardware, software, and services
  • Direct and Develop IT Teams: Provide leadership, mentoring, performance management, hiring support, onboarding, and training while fostering a high-performing, service-oriented IT organization
  • Manage Vendors and Managed Service Providers: Negotiate IT-related contracts, oversee MSP performance, and manage vendor relationships to ensure service quality and value
  • Guide IT Project Portfolio Execution: Lead feasibility studies, infrastructure improvements, and enterprise technology initiatives while communicating cost, value, and risk to executive leadership
  • Support Engineering Development Environments: Ensure availability and performance of engineering platforms, including specialized software tools, license servers, and Linux- and Windows-based compute resources
  • Manage Patch, Vulnerability, and Secure Configuration Processes: Develop and execute structured patch management and vulnerability remediation strategies, including testing and validation prior to enterprise-wide rollout.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:

  • Enterprise IT Strategy and Architecture: Designing and managing complex enterprise IT environments that include infrastructure, telecommunications, engineering systems, and virtual platforms
  • High-Availability IT Operations: Running mission-critical, 24/7 IT environments with strong incident management, outage reduction, and service delivery performance
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Applying CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, and federal cybersecurity frameworks to protect sensitive, proprietary, and classified information
  • Directing and Developing IT Teams: Leading technical staff, managing performance, mentoring team members, and building organizational capability
  • Patch and Vulnerability Management: Executing secure update rollouts, configuration management, and remediation processes across enterprise environments

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline (advanced certifications preferred)
  • 10 or more years of experience in IT leadership roles
  • Experience operating IT systems within secured and/or classified environments
  • Strong knowledge of IT requirements for U.S. Government contracts (CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, etc.)
  • Experience supporting environments that process, store, or transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
  • Experience with enterprise IT systems design, infrastructure, and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience managing virtualized infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems
  • Proven experience managing IT projects, MSPs, and external vendors
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base salary for this position ranges from $155,000 to $185,000 per year, depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to a competitive base salary, Innoflight offers a well-rounded compensation package that includes a Profit-Sharing Bonus and a Cash Performance Bonus to reward both individual and company performance. Additional benefits include:

  • Access to ancillary benefits such as critical illness, accident, disability, legal and pet insurance.

WHY YOU’LL LOVE WORKING HERE:

  • Flexible Work-Life Balance: Enjoy a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off—whether you use it to recharge, work on a passion project, or spend time with family, the choice is yours.
  • Continuous Learning & Development: We’re serious about professional development. From tuition reimbursement to internal "Ask Me Anything" sessions and weekly “Lunch & Learns,” we make learning a core part of the job.
