As an Interventional Cardiovascular Nurse Specialist, you will work closely under the supervision of the Nurse Manager / Clinical Coordinator. You are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care in accordance with unit policies and procedures. You will also supervise non-RN personnel and, when in a charge role, delegate and oversee unit activities. Flexibility is key, as you may be required to assist in other nursing units as needed. Your dedication will ensure a high standard of service across the department.

Responsibilities

• Continuously assess the physical and psychosocial condition of patients throughout their care journey.
• Develop, communicate, and document personalized care plans that involve patients, families, and the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Implement and coordinate care plans collaboratively within the healthcare team.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and patient responses, making necessary revisions and referrals.
• Assess individual learning needs for patient and family education, providing resources and documenting outcomes.
• Serve as a preceptor for new staff to foster their development.
• Assume the role of Charge Nurse as required.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and professional development as reviewed in performance evaluations.
• Pursue additional duties to ensure smooth operations within the unit.
• Demonstrate competencies in caring for patients with neurological concerns.
• Exhibit skills and knowledge in neuro assessments, airway management, and care for trached patients.
• Assist physicians during special neuro procedures effectively.
• Implement the 'TIA' teaching program knowledgeably.
• Perform suctioning procedures according to established policy and protocol.
• Show proficiency in caring for patients in a Halo brace and those on ventilators.

Qualifications

Education :

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Proficient in computer software, including electronic patient records, and capable of conducting literature searches regarding patient care.

Valid State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License

Special Skills :

BLS certification required.
