[job_card.job_description]Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or related fields. Strong programming and problem‑solving ability. Experience applying machine learning to recommendation systems, familiar with algorithms such as collaborative filtering, matrix factorization, factorization machines, word2vec, logistic regression, gradient boosting trees, deep neural networks, wide & deep, etc. Hands‑on experience with deep‑learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch). Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C++ or Python. Preferred : expertise in online advertising, information retrieval, NLP, large‑scale data mining, or related fields. Preferred : publications or competition experience (KDD, NeurIPS, WWW, SIGIR, WSDM, ICML, IJCAI, AAAI, Recsys, Kaggle, etc.). Base salary : $177,688 – $341,734 annually (city dependent). Potential bonuses, restricted stock units, and additional incentives. Benefits : medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with match, parental leave, long‑term disability, life insurance, well‑being programs, 10 paid holidays, 10 paid sick days, 17 days paid personal time. Machine Learning Engineer, Recommendations- USDS
Responsibilities
- Build large-scale recommendation algorithms and systems for commodity, live stream, and short video recommendations (10M–100M users) on TikTok.
- Build long‑ and short‑term user interest models, designing algorithms that efficiently explore users’ latent interests from large data sets.
- Design, develop, evaluate, and iterate on predictive models for candidate generation and ranking (e.g., CTR and conversion rate prediction), including real‑time data pipelines, feature engineering, model optimization, and innovation.
- Design and build supporting / debugging tools as needed.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally under a hybrid work schedule (3 days in‑office a week or manager direction).
