The Benefits and Leave Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the HR department by managing employee benefits and leave programs. This position ensures compliance with company policies and federal / state regulations while providing exceptional service to employees regarding benefits enrollment, eligibility, and leave requests.

Responsibilities

  • Administer health benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability plans.
  • Maintain accurate benefits records and update HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Educate employees on benefit options, eligibility, and coverage; assist with open enrollment, new hire onboarding, life event changes, and terminations.
  • Coordinate with benefit carriers and third-party administrators to resolve issues and process claims.
  • Review benefits paperwork for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor employee status changes and update eligibility in HRIS.
  • Manage leave requests in compliance with FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and company policy.
  • Track leave balances, documentation, and certification deadlines.
  • Communicate leave status and return-to-work updates to employees and managers.
  • Process benefit premium payments and maintain accurate tracking records.
  • Complete required forms (e.g., EDD) and maintain organized, confidential leave files.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of HR processes, benefits administration, and leave regulations (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, PDL).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Customer service orientation with empathy and professionalism.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma required; AA degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with HRIS systems and benefits platforms.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

    Job Type & Location

    This is a Permanent position based out of Sacramento, CA.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $62691.00 - $62691.00 / yr.

    Successful candidate will receive regionally competitive salary, above average health benefits at reduced costs, company paid life insurance & long-term disability insurance, additional voluntary retirement plan with company match and no vesting schedule requirement.
