The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the complete engineering process of large-scale foundry equipment, including coolers, mixers, sand handling systems, shot blasting machines, and other heavy industrial machinery. This role involves managing projects from initial customer requirements through final drawing release to manufacturing, while supporting production remotely.
Job Duties
Design large capital equipment used in foundry operations (coolers, mixers, sand processing systems, blasting equipment, etc.).
Develop detailed assembly drawings and general Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Review customer specifications and project requirements to define engineering scope.
Create initial arrangement drawings for customer approval.
Perform concept design and machine customization based on project needs.
Generate assembly drawings and oversee creation of detailed shop drawings.
Delegate drafting tasks and review / check work for accuracy and completeness.
Submit finalized shop drawings and BOMs for supervisory approval prior to release to manufacturing.
Support manufacturing facilities during production, resolving technical questions and design issues.
Ensure designs meet performance, durability, and safety requirements for heavy industrial environments.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of experience in complete machine design for capital equipment or heavy industrial machinery.
Experience designing large welded frames and structural equipment.
Working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, drives, gearboxes, bearings, and power transmission systems.
