Summary:
The Emergency Department RN provides high-quality, compassionate, and efficient care to patients with urgent, emergent, and life-threatening conditions. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the ED RN performs comprehensive assessments, delivers critical interventions, and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to stabilize and treat patients of all ages.
Location: Hospital Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (ED)
Schedule: Evening shift
Key Responsibilities:
Perform rapid assessments and triage patients based on acuity and presenting symptoms.
Initiate and manage emergency interventions including IV access, medication administration, wound care, cardiac monitoring, and resuscitation efforts.
Assist with and/or perform procedures such as EKGs, splinting, catheterizations, and more.
Collaborate with physicians, providers, and care teams to implement timely care plans.
Monitor patient conditions, recognize deterioration, and respond to changes promptly.
Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families in high-stress situations.
Participate in trauma care, code responses, and disaster preparedness efforts.
Adhere to infection control, safety, and emergency protocols at all times.
Support patient flow and throughput by coordinating with other departments for admission, discharge, or transfer.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
A bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) is preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience; case management or care coordination experience preferred.
BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS and TNCC/ENPC preferred.
Previous experience in emergency nursing or critical care strongly preferred.
Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and prioritization skills under pressure.
Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with a diverse patient population.
Proficiency in using electronic medical records and clinical documentation tools.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and crisis management skills.
Type: full-time contract employment 13-14 weeks with possibility to extend.
