Field Technician Manager
Responsible for daily management of all Milwaukee and Remote Field Machining Technicians emphasizing safety and operational efficiency. Exhibit and enforce a culture where safety is the first priority!
Essential Duties & Responsibilities :
- Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments to ensure the following :
- Jobs are completed on-time
- Quality specifications are met
- Costs are controlled and within budget
- Collaborate with Mobilization Manager to schedule technicians for Mobilization
- Collaborate with Scheduling to assign technicians for field and shop projects
- Project Management of shop jobs utilizing portable equipment
- Ensure employees are updating Jobs using the TEAM app
- Audit and approve employee expenses
- Daily audits and management employee time sheets
- Ensure proper checklists are being used and updated
- As required, review and compare actual vs estimated costs
- As required, create, and implement process improvement plans where deficiencies are identified
- As required, submit RFQs to Purchasing
- As required, act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems
General Management Tasks :
As required, participate with personnel reviews, assessments, interviews and terminationsApprove vacation schedulesEnsure the training of new and present employees in the processes and methods required to achieve the company's standards for quality, productivity, and safetyWork with the training department to train and qualify technical skills of assigned employeesEnsure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, and documentationActively participate in establishing and driving 5s culture and standardsEnsure compliance with departmental housekeeping standardsEnsure compliance with all safety and work rules / regulationsEnsure all departmental supplies are adequately maintainedEnsure all departmental equipment is properly maintainedQualifications :
High school diploma or GED, requiredJourneyman Machinist, Journeyman Tool and Die or 2-year technical degree, preferredSeven to ten years of progressively responsible related experienceDemonstrated managerial / leadership experience; minimum of 5 years of experience in a related roleExtensive experience (5-10 years) machiningExtensive knowledge and ability with high tolerance (0.0005") machiningExtensive mechanical aptitudeExtensive knowledge or experience with tooling and fixturingExperience with hydraulicsKnowledge and understanding of motors and gearboxesExperience in low volume and high mix environmentExtensive ability to read and interpret blueprints & mechanical drawingsExperience in process improvement and Lean ManufacturingAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondenceAbility to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and other employees of the organizationAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometryAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existsAbility to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formExtensive ability and desire to be a servant leaderExtensive ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, ever-changing environmentExtensive ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environmentExtensive ability to troubleshoot and solve problems using critical thinking skillsExtensive ability to organize and manage priorities, meet deadlines, and expectationsExtensive ability to follow through on projects from conception to completionManager Responsibilities :
