Job Summary :

The Utilities Design Lead Engineer will oversee and lead utility design and relocation efforts across various projects nationwide. This role requires a deep understanding of utility design, coordination with third-party agencies, and managing in-house design teams . The Engineer will be responsible for developing this new service line within RailPros , preparing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) , and mentoring CAD professionals and utility designers . Additionally, they will manage utility relocations performed by third-party entities, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

• Lead and mentor a team for utility design and coordination while managing background documentation.
• Prepare Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for in-house utility design.
• Manage subconsultants involved in utilities-related scope.
• Coordinate stakeholder utility engagements with third-party utility agencies.
• Develop and manage utility design efforts for engineering projects.
• Oversee field potholing operations to guide data collection and alternative solutions.
• Stay informed on regulatory changes affecting utility design and recommend necessary adjustments.
• Build and expand RailPros' utility design service line for future projects.
• Coordinate across departments to ensure utility design integration within larger projects.
• Develop in-house training presentations to educate teams on utility design capabilities.
• Represent RailPros at stakeholder meetings, conferences, and industry events .
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs .
