Overview:
The Department of Medicine at the University at Buffalo invites applications for a full-time physician scientist faculty position at Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor HS level. Faculty candidates must have an MD degree and be board certified in internal medicine and/or subspeciality of internal medicine and have research training in quantitative methodology within the broad field of health services research. This should include research experience in conducting analyses related to the delivery, conduct, or outcomes of healthcare, in either a health system or community setting. Strong candidates will demonstrate an ability to develop well-designed applications for federal research funding, support clinical and health services researchers in development of quantitative aims in applications for federal funding, and have a background of publications in peer-reviewed journals. Research addressing population health, developing programs to optimize health outcomes for vulnerable populations, or investigating the cost of disparities in care is valued. Expertise in conducting retrospective data analysis using large national datasets, VA, or health system electronic medical record data, and conducting randomized controlled trials are also encouraged. Successful candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for developing and working with multidisciplinary teams and engaging faculty and trainees, and an interest in conducting independent research as well as supporting multidisciplinary teams in developing collaborative grant applications.
Position Requirements:
Applicants must have an MD degree and be board certified in internal medicine and/or subspeciality of internal medicine and have research training with MS or PhD in health services research, clinical research, or behavioral research. The candidate will be appointed in the Department of Medicine, with tenure-track appointment. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
