Duties / Responsibilities :

Nursery / Greenhouse : work including but is not limited to potting, pruning, weeding, grafting, seeding, data entry, maintaining research plots, watering, fertilizer and pesticide applications running and maintaining nursery equipment.

Laboratory work : including but is not limited to washing dishes, preparing research samples, processing samples, data entry, running and maintaining lab equipment.

Teaching and Extension : help with activities associated with preparation of teaching a weed science lab and assist with editing extension publications.

Position Summary :

This position will assist faculty and staff with greenhouse, research and field plots as well as help with extension and teaching activities . This position will work both indoors and outdoors with minimum supervision. There will also be some work in a greenhouse environment. Duties may also include intermittent out-of-town travel to research plots. Computer experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and graphics software is a plus.

Relevant / Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position :

High School diploma / GED; Training will be provided on all processes and equipment when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and / or Competencies :

Ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and general mechanical aptitude.

Physical Demands :

Lift 50 pounds and work in inclement weather, as needed (i.e., rain, snow, heat, cold, etc.)
