All facilities honor active compact licenses. First-time travelers are welcome, with a minimum of 2 years of experience. Candidates with less than 2 years or no experience with C-sections will be screened out. Only intermediate AWHONN candidates will be considered for manager approval. Floating to the postpartum unit is required. Care will be provided for high-risk antepartum patients ranging from 6 weeks to 41 weeks. Conditions include PTL, previa, preeclampsia, diabetes, hypertension, PROM, twins, and substance use disorder in pregnancy. Care will also involve management of fetal demise or loss, both antepartum and postpartum. The unit handles postpartum mothers with babies in NICU but does not care for newborns. Support with amnio or sterile spec exams at the bedside is expected. Familiarity with PCA pumps, PICC / Central lines, and syringe pumps is necessary. Proficient management of medications such as heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate is required. The ability to circulate for C-sections is essential.
