[job_card.job_description]Assist nurses and surgeons during C-sections and obstetrical procedures. Provide direct patient care including bathing, dressing, mobility assistance, and vital signs. Identify and report breaks in sterile technique. Prepare equipment and supplies according to surgeon preference cards. Maintain accurate counts of instruments, sponges, and needles. Support the surgical team by anticipating needs and ensuring seamless workflow. Clean and maintain equipment, ensuring readiness for procedures. Document patient information accurately and maintain confidentiality. Participate in patient rounding to ensure comfort and safety. Adhere to AORN standards and hospital policies. High school diploma or equivalent. BLS certification required. Surgical Tech experience required . C-section experience highly preferred . CNA preferred but not required . Completion of competency-based skills checklist. One year Nursing Assistant experience preferred; two years hospital experience preferred. Ability to handle crisis situations and work in fast‑paced, unpredictable environments. Must exhibit strong communication, teamwork, and patient-focused service. Exposure to infectious diseases and occasional x‑rays. Requires prolonged standing / walking and ability to lift, position, or transfer patients or equipment. Irregular hours based on patient needs. Referral program Surgical Tech : 1 year (Required) BLS Certification (Required)
Travel Obstetric Assistant (Day Shift)
Location : 455 St Michaels Drive, Santa Fe, NM 87505
Contract Details
- Start Date : ASAP (Projected 12 / 15 / 2025)
- End Date : 03 / 15 / 2026
- Duration : 13 weeks with possible extension
- Shift : Days – 7 : 00 AM to 7 : 00 PM | 36 hrs / week
Position Overview
We are seeking a Travel Obstetric Assistant to join the Women’s Services team for a 13‑week contract. This role supports Labor & Delivery by performing delegated patient‑care tasks and assisting surgeons during operative procedures. Hospital scrubs are provided daily, and no call is required .
