World Book is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. The Senior Accountant plays a key role in supporting key accounting processes and strategic finance initiatives. This role oversees complex accounting areas, mentors staff, and collaborates cross-functionally to enhance processes, controls, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Close, Reporting, and Compliance

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements. Oversee accounting over Working Capital, Inventory, Payroll, as well as advanced treatments around Capitalization and Amortization of Software, Pre-Publication and Commissions. Support tax filings, budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis.

Partner with and oversee planning and analysis around Research and Development and General and Administrative functions. Assist in variance analysis and management reporting.

Ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies; maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and audit readiness. Recommend and implement accounting process improvements and automation opportunities, including ERP enhancements and data integrity.

Qualifications & Skills

Location : World Book maintains a hybrid work schedule with two days per week at the corporate headquarters located at 180 N. LaSalle St., Suite 900, Chicago, IL 60601.

Compensation : $70,000 to $80,000 annual salary.
