Description :

Unit includes ICU and ICU-CV Recovery.

The unit has 24 beds with capacity to accommodate up to 32 beds.

Patient-to-nurse ratios are 1 to 1 or 1 to 2.

An Intensivist is available on the unit from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on-call after hours.

Basic EKG interpretation is required.

Additional certifications such as IABP, CRRT, and ICP are not required but beneficial.

Candidates must be familiar with Cerner as the EMR system.

Equipment includes pagers linked to call light systems and internal communication phones.

Orientation consists of 2 shifts on the unit and floating to associated towers.

Charge nurses rarely take patients but respond to all rapid responses.

Shifts are structured as 12-hour shifts with specific break times as per regulations.

Nurses are required to work every other weekend or an equivalent schedule.

Scrub colors must adhere to navy blue guidelines.

Tele monitoring is conducted by a dedicated team, but nurses will manage their own tele strips and readings.

Ventilator management will be handled by the respiratory therapy team.

Pharmacy services are available 24 / 7, with dedicated pharmacists on the unit during weekday and weekend shifts.

Common patient conditions include respiratory failure, sepsis, acute myocardial infarction, ARDS, GI bleeds, and various surgeries.

Participation in multidisciplinary rounds is expected.

Floating to Med-Surg / Tele units is mandatory for travelers.

The hospital reserves the right to cancel shifts within specified limits.
