Travel Med Tech / MLS – Weekend Days | Lufkin, TX

Join a 149-bed acute care hospital in Lufkin, Texas as a Travel Medical Technologist / Medical Laboratory Scientist (Generalist) working steady weekend day shifts with guaranteed hours and strong pay. This role is ideal for MT / MLS professionals who enjoy autonomy in a community-hospital lab setting.​

Position details

  • Title : Travel Med Tech / MLS – Generalist (MT / MLS only, no MLT)
  • Location : Lufkin, Texas (community acute-care hospital, 149 beds)​
  • Shift : Days, 8 AM – 8 PM, Friday–Sunday (3x12s, weekend only)
  • Start : ASAP
  • Schedule : 36 hours / week guaranteed
  • Traveler pay :   $38.00 hourly

    • Requirements

  • MT / MLS with ASCP certification ​
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related science field​
  • Minimum 1+ year of recent generalist experience
  • Experience in microbiology plus core lab (hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, etc.)​

    • Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of generalist testing on blood and other specimens across core lab disciplines, following established protocols and quality standards.​
  • Support blood bank operations using Cerner, including specimen handling and compatibility-related tasks per departmental policy.​​
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot clinical analyzers and laboratory instrumentation while ensuring timely, accurate result reporting in the EMR (Medhost).​
  • Collaborate with pathologists, nurses, and other clinical staff to support safe, effective patient care with reliable lab data.​

    • Schedule, call, and floating

  • Core schedule : Weekend days (Fri–Sun), 8 AM – 8 PM , 36 hours guaranteed
  • No formal call, but may occasionally be asked to cover an extra shift
  • Floating may be required within the laboratory department only

    • Additional details

  • EMR : Medhost ; Blood bank platform : Cerner ​
  • Scrubs : Red / black for lab staff
  • Travelers must meet all requirements and submit complete information, including permanent home address and SSN , or they will be rejected.
