Yorkville Community School District 115 The Behavior Intervention Specialist will provide proactive and responsive behavior support for buildings. The Behavior Intervention Specialist will coach teachers and staff to promote positive behavior, and create a safe and supportive learning environment. This is a FMLA Coverage from January 9, 2026 until March 6, 2026 at $210.00/per day.

Reports to: Executive Director of Student Services

Essential Functions

• Provide research-validated, professional development to staff regarding classroom management theories and positive behavior intervention strategies that promote positive student behavior in the classroom and school environments.
• Collaborate and model positive behavior support strategies in the classroom and school settings.
• Assist educators in developing and implementing classroom behavior plans.
• Train educators and staff to implement behavior interventions with students referred for behavioral services.
• Collaborate with school psychologists, social workers, special education teachers, and other support staff to develop and implement comprehensive behavior support plans.
• Participate in student support team meetings and other relevant meetings.
• Work as part of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) team
• Analyze data collected by teams on student behavior to identify patterns and trends.
• Use data to inform the development and implementation of behavior interventions.
• Generate reports on student behavior and progress based on tier 1, 2, and 3 data.
• Stay up-to-date on current research and best practices in behavior management and positive behavior interventions and supports.

Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required, BCBA, LBSI, LBSII, or Social Work certifications preferred; 3-5 years of experience working in a school setting preferred; experience providing professional development or training to adults preferred; certification and/or instructor certified in de-escalation and physical restraint training.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

• Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
• Ability to lead and coach building teams toward overall trauma-informed practices and behavioral practices
• Ability to lead the collection of and analyze behavioral data at the student, classroom, and school level to lead intervention implementation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Excellent analytical skills

Physical Demands/Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
