You’ll inspire creativity, build confidence and help students gain coding experience and computational thinking skills for the jobs of tomorrow. The lead instructors’ primary role is to lead and oversee all operations of your assigned sessions, develop and carry out activities and lesson plans, manage the classroom and lead the assistant instructors / mentors assigned to your session. You’ll work closely with the Educational Programs Manager. Lead instructors must quickly establish and build positive relationships with program participants, families, staff and partners.

You’ll be responsible for teaching a coding curriculum to groups of K-12 students! Create an inclusive atmosphere where every student is respected and appreciated for their own talents and individuality. Ensure the safety of all students and staff.

KEY SKILLS :

• Teaching experience : Minimum two years working in a classroom environment, leading school-aged children in hands-on activities, required. Teaching certificate is a plus. Will also consider subject matter experts with a demonstrated interest in working with kids in education, childhood development or other learning environments.
• Classroom management experience : Demonstrated experience implementing youth curriculum, differentiating curriculum in the classroom, and managing a classroom.
• Technical skills : Experience with various block-based and text-based programming languages required.
• Interests : Positive, inclusive interest in working with neurodiverse students, developing differentiated learning opportunities and teaching. High energy and passionate about technology and kids.
• Commitment : Strong desire to teach others how to code. Commitment to building a safe, student-focused community.
• Responsibility : On time, prepared, and cheerful. Professional demeanor. Demonstrated ethics, integrity and accountability. Strong problem-solving skills and flexibility.
• Leadership : Willing to take ownership of projects and see them through to completion.
• Transportation : Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout the city.
