Senior Auditor
Our client, Regalia Berger & Berger CPAs, is a public accounting firm serving tax-exempt organizations in the Northern California Bay Area, providing audit, tax, and consulting services with a focus on long-term relationships, timely delivery, operational guidance, and value-added insights.
We are seeking a full-time Senior Auditor to join our growing team. This role can be hybrid or fully remote, with the expectation of working Pacific Standard Time hours. The candidate will serve as an individual contributor on nonprofit audit and review engagements.
Core Responsibilities
- Audit fieldwork : Plan and perform financial and compliance audits and reviews, including walkthroughs, inquiries, analytical procedures, and substantive testing.
- Internal control evaluation : Evaluate design and operating effectiveness of internal controls to identify risks, safeguard assets, and prevent fraud.
- Financial record analysis : Analyze financial statements, bank activity, pledges, grants, functional expenses, and other nonprofit-specific areas for accuracy and completeness.
- Documentation : Prepare clear and comprehensive workpapers that support audit procedures, conclusions, and professional judgment.
- Reporting : Assist in drafting audit reports, financial statements, management letters, and findings. May also assist with preparation of Form 990 support schedules.
- Compliance : Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), Uniform Guidance (where applicable), and nonprofit-specific reporting requirements.
- Other : Perform additional accounting or auditing tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field3 to 5 years of progressive audit and / or accounting experienceProficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and WordStrong interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with clients and team membersHigh attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and sound professional judgmentAbility to work independently, manage multiple assignments, and meet client deadlinesPreferred Skills
