Job Title : Diesel Technician / Mechanic
Essential Duties :
- Reading work orders to evaluate customer concerns
- Repairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines and other associated parts
- Completing oil changes, wheel balancing, alignment and brake checks
- Running diagnostic tests on diesel engines, transmissions and other vehicle systems
- Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks
- Road tests vehicles to quality-check work performed
- Monitors shop condition, including cleanliness, safety, and the condition of shop equipment
- Ensures the proper care, storage of special tools
- Strives for harmony and teamwork within the shop
- Maintains a safe work environment
- Maintains a professional appearance

Education and Experience :
Two to four years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceKnowledge of modern methods of maintaining and repairing automotive, medium / heavy duty trucks and equipmentKnowledge of operating principles and maintenance of gasoline and diesel-powered enginesLanguage Skills :
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to write routine reports, business correspondence, and procedure manualsAbility to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customersReasoning Skills :
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization existAbility to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesAbility to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processPhysical Demands :
Works in various weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, grease / oils, electrical energyHave visual acuity to perform visual inspections involving small defects, small parts, operation of machinesBody agility : balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, stoopingPerceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature, or texture by touchDexterity : whole-hand (grabbing and holding) and fingertip (picking and pinching)Certifications :
