Senior Auditor
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Auditor to play a key role in leading audit engagements for nonprofit organizations. This position involves planning, executing, and reporting audit findings while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This is a long-term contract opportunity based in Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, with an initial part-time schedule of 2025 hours per week for six months and potential for expanded hours based on performance.
Responsibilities :
- Plan and lead financial statement audits for nonprofit organizations, ensuring thorough execution from fieldwork to final reporting.
- Oversee audit processes to ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and Uniform Guidance requirements, where applicable.
- Prepare comprehensive audit workpapers that demonstrate attention to detail and meet peer review standards.
- Collaborate with the firm's managing auditor to ensure quality assurance during audit reviews.
- Develop and refine audit standard operating procedures, templates, and checklists to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Conduct regular meetings with firm leadership to review project progress and coordinate tasks effectively.
Requirements :
Active CPA license or eligibility, with good standing.At least 5 years of experience leading audits for nonprofit organizations, including Single Audits under Uniform Guidance.Demonstrated ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and produce high-quality audit documentation.Experience in successfully completing or preparing for peer review processes.Familiarity with audit documentation tools such as Knowledge Coach or similar software.Up-to-date with all required continuing education (CPE) standards.Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey findings and collaborate effectively.
