Program : Fatherhood Resources Network Community (FRANC)

TITLE : Vocational Specialist

CLASSIFICATION : Full-Time (37.5 hours per week), Non-Exempt

This is a direct service position responsible for providing workforce development activities for fathers enrolled in the FRANC program. FRANC workforce development services provide direct support services to fathers seeking to improve or obtain meaningful employment utilizing a broad range of community services. This position reports to the Lead Family Champion.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

ESSENTIAL DUTIES :

1. Assess participants’ skills and interests to develop a personalized employment plan.

2. Provide career counseling and job search assistance.

3. Collaborate with community workforce development partners to provide job training and placement.

4. Cultivate and manage ongoing collaborative relationships with community workforce development partners.

5. Timely data entry into participant records and data collection systems.

6. Prepare for and participate in case reviews with the Interdisciplinary Team.

7. Adheres strictly to policies which ensure participant confidentiality.

8. Participates in and supports the agency’s performance and quality improvement processes.

9. Participates in outreach development and delivery of community events.

10. Participates in related training and workshops.

11. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

REQUIREMENTS :

1. Bachelor degree with 2 years’ experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience may be considered.

2. Preference will be given to individuals with 2 years prior experience in supporting father and father figures with family support / case management services.

3. Case Management Credential preferred but not required.

4. Manage a caseload; organize and prioritize work assignments; make decisions and independent judgments; determine the appropriate course of action in emergency or stressful situations; and recognize reportable events.

5. Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Microsoft 365 web-based applications and using internet search engines and other online research tools.

6. Ability to work in the office and in the field.

7. Available to work some evenings and Saturdays and schedule visits according to participants needs.

8. Professional, self-directed, high-energy can-do attitude, follow-through on projects and prompt responsiveness to internal and external stakeholders.

9. Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented, positive customer service focused enjoys working with others.

10. Light physical demands : Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Ability to walk, stand, climb stairs, kneel, bend, reach, and manipulate objects; lift and move materials up to 10 pounds on a regular basis; infrequently require to lift or move materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

11. Able to travel in the communities served; must have a reliable car, active auto insurance, and valid Florida driver’s license.

12. Must be able to successfully complete a Florida level 2 criminal background clearance, motor vehicle records check and drug screening.
